CAMBRIAN SYMPHONY PRESENTS “MUSIC SPEAKS” – A CONCERT FEATURING TCHAIKOVSKY AND SHOSTAKOVICH
- Famed violinist Ken Lin to be featured in Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto in D Major -
SAN JOSE, California – One of the Bay Area's premier orchestras, Cambrian Symphony, will present its final concert of the season called “Music Speaks.” They will be performing Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto in D Major and Dmitri Shostakovich's Symphony No. 5 in D minor. Premier violinist Ken Lin will be featured in the Tchaikovsky concerto.
Violinist Ken Lin is a renowned violinist and enjoys a career performing as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestra player. After graduating from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, Mr. Lin has performed with the San Francisco Ballet Orchestra, California Symphony, Marin Symphony, and Santa Cruz Symphony. In 2005, he was invited to perform an exclusive concert for the former President of Taiwan, Den Huei Lee, and conducted Master classes throughout Taiwan, Korea, and USA. As founder of the acclaimed KAS piano trio, he has toured Asia and North America in 2007 with a 1713 “Wirth” Stradivarius Violin sponsored by Chi-mei Fine Art Ltd, and the trio’s performances were featured in major radio stations in Asia. From 2008- present, Mr. Lin has devoted himself to teaching young talents, and at the same time giving numerous concerts in California and Vancouver, Canada. As a section violinist of the Vancouver Opera Orchestra since 2012, Mr. Lin also performs regularly with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra.
Maestro Scott Krijnen, Cambrian Symphony's conductor and artistic director, has put together a symphony that brings together professional adult musicians and high-level local middle and high school students. For this concert, he has asked Mr. Lin to end this season with a program that will inspire and motivate adult and student musicians and the audience to embrace music as a means of inspiration. “With the strength of the human spirit as the foundation by which we move forward, the musicians of the Cambrian Symphony will wrestle the depth of Shostakovich's 5th Symphony. His balance of survival in an oppressive and violent Russia under the hands of Stalin while trying to stay true to his artistic ideals and beliefs, is what his society could and should be.”
The free concert will be held on Friday, June 10th at San Jose State's Music Concert Hall at 7:30 pm.
